A Catch-Up Post: First and Last Pageant

While looking through my pictures, I realized I haven't updated much over the last few months! So here is one quick catch-up post.

I decided to try putting Abby in a little mini-pageant to just try it out and learn how it all worked.

While it was fun, I am pretty sure it was her first and last pageant. Mostly I was doing it to get Abby her very own crown. 

I realized that I just didn't have the patience for it! Abby just wanted a princess crown and that was all she cared about. Getting her to walk a certain way and smile was almost too much. She usually is full of smiles and personality, but not in front of judges!

I also realized that I don't take criticism of my daughter's  beauty very well. While I understand the judging of her personality and whether she was outgoing, engaging and so on - I don't understand how beauty can be judged and why she was marked down points on the photogenic portion.  See? The whole points thing - it can obsess a person.

However, I did get some VERY cute pictures out of it. I also had a lot of fun dressing Abby up and having a girly day. I never thought I'd have that!

She did take a brief moment to give the judges a cheesy smile though!

After she got her crown...she kept insisting on wearing it backwards.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun...

We made a dirt pile recently because there are not many things more fun then a pile of dirt for boys to play in....well for that matter, girls too.

Unfortunately Abby doesn't yet know the rules about taking off the Sunday best clothes before play. So, while the rest of us obediently changed clothes , Abby sneaked out to the dirt pile. She was head first in it, laying on her belly and having a grand time when we found her. Oops. I have a feeling this won't be the last time, however. While Abby loves her pretties, she also loves dirt and playing with the boys!

Happy 6 months!

Baby Abigail is now six months old!!
That means she can start eating solid food....Yikes! I have experimented with some rice cereal with her already, and she does pretty well. I can't wait to see what she thinks about pear and carrots and peas though!

Abigail is still a tiny thing, however. She is finally grown out of 0-3 month clothes for the most part. She is still in some 3 month sized clothes and 3-6 month clothes. I've noticed the sizes vary widely on brand to brand. I put a 3-6 month onesie on her yesterday that I could barely snap! However, she still has 0-3 month outfits that fit as well.
This is a stark difference from my boys who were basically born wearing 0-3 and 3-6 month clothes and were grown out of them by 3 months old! My boys would have been in 6-9 month clothes by now, snugly. ;)

Abigail is also a bit behind on the milestones - however if you go by her due date, she should only be 4.5 months old. She has rolled both ways, but not on a regular basis. She's not even attempting to crawl yet and I have a feeling it will be months before she crawls. She likes to make sounds and baby talk, but not the typical 6 month old baby talk - more like 3-4 month old baby sounds still. She is also pretty wobbly still with her neck/back control. Although she is able to sit pretty well  now if I'm supporting her, and in her Bumbo seat.

At her 6 month well-baby check-up today she weighed in at a whopping 13 lbs and 8 oz, 23 1/4" long! Wohoo! She's actually ON the growth curve now - 8% for weight.

Everything else looks good. Yay!
